Results of the 2022 – 2023 production campaign
The plants development was good until the end of January. In early February, significant morning dews occurred throughout the area. The strong solar radiation on the wet leaves during the hottest hours of the day caused leaves burns which partially compromised the final development of the bulbs, which are of a smaller average size than in 2021-2022 campaign. We estimate that the average production per hectare of our partner producers has decreased from an average of 15 t/ha in 2022 to about 10 t/ha this year. However, because of the significant manure inputs recommended by the company’s technical team and the assistance provided during the harvesting phase, the onions are of excellent quality and can be successfully stored for a long time.
